Teach For America | Greater New Orleans

2020 - 2022

Upon graduating from college, I joined the Teach For America 2020 corps (~13% acceptance rate). During my 2 years in the corps, I learned and implemented anti-racist teaching practices, data-driven research and instruction, and became certified in Elementary Education through TNTP Academy. I finished my two-year commitment in 2022, but decided to stay on for a third year to move up to the next grade level with my students. 

Kipp East Academy | New Orleans, LA  

June 2020 - Present

Placed at Kipp East through TFA, I taught 5th grade science (2 years) and 6th grade math (1 year). I started with zero teaching experience and was able to help my students achieve the highest percentage of mastery across all of Kipp New Orleans middle schools by over 20%. In addition, I served as the founding debate coach, and the team went on to place in the top 3 teams in 3 out of 4 debate tournaments.

ShortsTV | London, England

January 2019 - May 2019

As a production intern at ShortsTV, I assisted the production team in the US theater release of the 2019 Oscar Nominated Short Film Catalogue, and with a variety of other tasks. During my time at Shorts, I wrote segments for the featured shows La Lista and Viewer's Choice, assisted on shoots with talent, screened films to package together as full-length segments, and transcribed interviews and segments.

Soma Intimates | Akron/Columbus, OH

May 2019 - March 2020

One of my college positions was as a sales lead at Soma Intimates. Within a month of working as an associate, I was promoted to the sales lead managerial position. I opened and closed the store, managed a team of 10 women, engaged with customers, and exceeded weekly commission goals by nearly 30%.

Boys and Girls Club | Newark, OH 

September 2019 - March 2020

I served as the community service intern at BGC Newark during my senior year of college. At BGC, I ran the K-2 classroom, developed student activities, and built relationships with members. I also recruited other students at Denison to volunteer there.

Teach For America | Granville, OH

August 2019 - May 2020

Prior to serving as corps member, I was Teach For America's campus ambassador at Denison. In this role, I marketed the organization through various social media platforms, ran events throughout the school year to recruit potential corps members, helped them with the application process, and trained recruits for both the in-person and virtual 3-round interview. All 8 of the students that completed interview prep with me received an offer to join the 2020 corps (100% success rate).
